After spending a long time refusing to get involved in a Horus Heresy army mainly due to the cost I gave in recently at the Forge World open day. I've decided on a Salamanders army, I love the figures and they have some pretty cool rules that fit my style of play. The first unit I brought were some Pyrocasts, Artificer armoured veterans with strength six heavy flamers that double as a short ranged melta weapon. They will be put into their own Landraider Proteus at some point but for now the next part of the project is the two tactical squads I need.

Long time gone
Well it's been a while, over a year since I last updated this. Lots has happened but I have still been painting s time to catch up with some of what I have been upto...
So far a start some 15mm Napoleonics, I've been missing some old fashioned linear wargames, and I dug out the old WRG 1645-1845 rules; think they are from 1973 so as old as me, but with a few tweaks they make a perfectly good set of rules. Tom and I have played a few games using just the bases to see how it works and I have started a British army with the Light Division. It's a small formation of two British Light Infantry Battalions and two Portuguese Cacadores Battalions supported by eight Companies of Riflemen and two Regiments of British Light Cavalry and a Royal Horse Artillery Battery.
So far I've completed the two Light Infantry regiments, one of the Portuguese regiments and the riflemen.

Adeptus Arbites
Lots going on here at the moment, in the painting pile I have some Deathwatch marines, British Napoleonic artillery, a few Roman cavalry, German tanks and some buildings. News on those to appear later but for now some adeptus Arbites I have just finished for a commission, the models are great its a shame Games Workshop has stopped supporting the specialist games.

40th Birthday
Yes, this weekend was that landmark date and I celebrated in the best way I knew, spending time with friends, playing games and drinking beer (or in the case of some people red wine or elderflower cider).
Anyway first game played was a new one I received for my present (thanks peeps) called Horus Heresy. A huge box full of cool stuff. After spending a good hour setting up all the counters we attempted to play reading through the rules. This made it a somewhat interesting game which ending up with Terra falling to Horus.
Another gift was the another fantasy flight 40k game, Relic the 40k version of Talisman. We gave it a quick go but tiredness finished the game early. Very good fun though. Looking forwards to playing both games properly and will put up more pictures at another time.
Other games we managed to fit into the weekend were the Fantasy Flight edition of Talisman, a game about running power station ( lists more fun than it sounds), another game with little people tiles and cities( can't remember the name of that either!) And the game of thrones board game. Over the weekend we must have spent a good 25hrs over 2 days playing with breaks only for break fast and a meal at Planet Hollywood in London.
On my actual birthday I was taken out on a mystery trip by my wife, and it was... Harry Potter Studio tour really really good fun, especially after a large latte woke me up.

Aliens
I found some old pictures of some painting I did for an Aliens collector a couple of years ago so thought I'd share them here.
Firstly a life size aliens pulse rifle made from resin.
Also I painted a box of 25mm Aliens figures
